HDCommerce is our very own eCommerce solution for WordPress, designed and developed entirely in-house. It has all the bells and whistles that an eCommerce platform needs — payment gateways, shipping, taxes by region, coupon codes, product variations, automated emails, order management — so we’re not going to waste your time going over the basics. Instead, let’s focus on what makes HDCommerce so special, and why our clients choose it over the “big box” alternatives.
Intuitive by design
HDCommerce was designed and developed from the ground up, to not just be a great experience for your customers, but to be a fantastic experience for you — the store owner.
Creating and managing your products is a delight. Every product is managed from a single, clean editor: pricing, stock, shipping, categories, images, and variations all live in one place. Product variations are a particular point of pride — add a variation type like “Size” or “Colour”, and every possible combination is generated for you automatically, each with its own optional price, SKU, stock level, and images. Reordering options is literally drag-and-drop. Eat your heart out, WooCommerce.
We believe that the best thing we can do is to get out of your way, automate everything that can be automated, and allow you to focus on the things that really matter.
Subscriptions & recurring payments, built in
Selling subscriptions on WordPress usually means buying a stack of expensive add-on plugins and praying they cooperate. With HDCommerce, recurring payments are a core feature, not an afterthought.
Any product (or even an individual product variation) can be made recurring: charge weekly, monthly, or yearly, take an up-front deposit, run a fixed payment plan (“5 payments of $20”), or bill indefinitely until cancelled. Renewals are charged automatically to your customer’s saved payment method, every renewal creates its own order so your records are always complete, and the whole thing runs itself — renewal reminder emails go out before each charge, failed autocharges trigger an email with a one-click link for the customer to pay manually, and subscriptions can be cancelled immediately or at the end of the paid period.
And here’s the kicker: HDCommerce supports mixed carts. A customer can add a subscription product and a regular one-time product to the same cart, check out once, and HDCommerce handles the rest automatically. To our knowledge, no other WordPress solution does this.
Advanced features
HDCommerce grants you far more power and control than other eCommerce solutions, right out of the box.
- Payments your customers actually want — Stripe, PayPal, and Square are included. Through Stripe, that means credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Wallet, and Buy Now Pay Later services like Afterpay and Klarna.
- Smart coupons — percentage or fixed-amount discounts, expiry dates, usage limits, minimum cart amounts, stacking rules, and even coupons that apply directly to specific products rather than the whole cart.
- Order management that respects your time — one-click printing of orders and shipping slips, CSV exports for your accountant, a full activity log on every order, and a “Set tracking code” action that marks the order as shipped and emails your customer their tracking link automatically.
- Taxes done right — region-based tax tables with country and province/state rates, tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive pricing, and per-product tax overrides for the edge cases.
- Addon-style variations — alongside traditional variations, products can run in “addon mode”, where options like engraving or gift wrap simply add to the price. Perfect for upsells without SKU bloat.
We also have complete control over shipping calculations. Want to charge a different price for shipping on Mondays? What about charging a different price if the customer’s name starts with a D? Or if the weather is currently under 20°? Or, more realistically, if you need to ship from different warehouses or pull live rates from your carrier. With HDCommerce, we can build anything in.
Extendable, customizable, perfect
With complete control over the entire stack, we can extend HDCommerce to do anything you need. The plugin is riddled with developer hooks — custom payment gateways, custom shipping methods, custom checkout fields, custom coupon rules, custom order actions and statuses, custom emails — which means your feature request is an enhancement, not a workaround.
For example, one of our clients wanted different pricing for “Premium Members”. So we built that in. Any logged-in user with Premium Membership status automatically gets 10% off, reflected on both product pages and the final cart.
One client wanted a “Choose three items” picker that would only add the selected products to the cart if there were exactly three. So we built that in, along with a validator to keep the cart honest.
Another client had a list of “consultants” and required customers to select a consultant before adding a product to the cart — with the selection added to the New Order email, and dynamic links in the customer’s confirmation email depending on what was purchased. So we built that in!
Why clients choose HDCommerce
The honest answer is that most eCommerce platforms aren’t built for you — they’re built for a marketplace of paid add-ons. The base plugin is free, and then subscriptions cost extra, decent coupons cost extra, and before long you’re paying hundreds of dollars a year to a dozen different vendors, each update a fresh chance for something to break.
HDCommerce is the opposite. One codebase, built and maintained by the same people who build your website. No add-on roulette, no plugin bloat slowing your site down, no support tickets bouncing between vendors pointing fingers at each other. When you need something, you talk directly to the developers who wrote every line — and it either already exists, or we build it for you.
If that sounds like the way eCommerce should work, get in touch and let’s talk about your store.
